IN MEMORY OF MARC O’REGAN
Tuesday, February 28th, 2006SAD NEWS, BUT HIS POSITIVE WORK LIVES ON . . .
On February 4th in Long Beach, Marc O’Regan shared his experiences, sacrifices and work that he volunteered in earthquake devastated Kashmir. Generous AWARE supporters donated $2,600 to Operation Heartbeat on his behalf.
On Friday February 24th, Marc died suddenly of a heart attack while visiting friends in Seattle.
We are particularly saddened because Marc was very special, having turned 180 degrees from being Navy Seal to being a healer (acupuncturist, physician assistant, and message therapist).
Mark Manning (filmmaker of Caught in the Crossfire and upcoming documentary, Road to Falluja) was a close friend of Marc’s for 25 years, and assured me that Marc is still with us. And as my friend Buck said, he had cleaned his karma and it was time to move on . . . mission accomplished.
All the donations raised at the event on February 4th were forwarded to Operation Heartbeat. We will find out what organizations Marc supported, or create a memorial foundation in Marc’s name for future donations. We will post information as soon as it becomes available.

ABOUT AWARE
The mission of AWARE is to raise consciousness through art, music and spoken word, and to promote peace and justice through coalitions with other organizations. Taking an unconventional approach to the peace movement, AWARE events incorporate local music, poetry and artwork to blend culture with education. At an AWARE event you will step into an environment of incredible artists who will entertain you with jazz, conscious hip-hop, poetry and art. Enjoy a glass of wine or a cup of coffee and learn about current social and political events and how you can get involved in being a part of the solution.
